　　Students are nurtured to be both physically and psychologically healthy. They are expected to have a wholesome personality, a value for humanistic pursuits, and a sense of social responsibility, as well as the ability to think critically and innovatively, good writing and communication skills, an orientation towards life-long learning, and a proficiency in organization and management. Moreover, they should have an international mindset and be able to work well in a team context.

　　本专业面向国家和社会需求，培养具有动物医学专业基础理论、基础知识和基本技能的复合应用型、学术研究型与管理型兽医人才。能够在兽医业务部门、畜牧生产部门、公共卫生部门以及大型养殖企业与兽药企业从事动物临床疾病诊疗、动物疫病防控、动物卫生监督、动物检疫与食品安全监管、兽药与兽用生物制品生产、人兽共患病防治等工作；能够在大专院校与科研院所从事兽医学、医学与生物学领域的教学、科研与技术产品研发工作；能够在兽医行政部门从事兽医管理工作。

　　Facing the national and social needs of the professional training, the major cultivates veterinary talents of composite application, academic research and management science，with animal medicine basic theory, basic knowledge and basic skills. They can work in the veterinary business department, production department, the public health department of animal husbandry and veterinary drug enterprises engaged in large-scale farming enterprises and animal clinical disease diagnosis, prevention and control of animal diseases, animal health supervision, animal quarantine and supervision of food safety, animal and veterinary biological products production, zoonosis prevention and control , and work in teaching, scientific research and technological product research and development work in colleges and scientific research institute in the field of veterinary medicine, medicine and biology, and also can be engaged in management work in veterinary administrative departments.

　　二、基本要求

　　本专业学生主要学习基础兽医学、预防兽医学和临床兽医学的基本理论和基本知识，进行畜禽机体结构及功能认知、病理和生理状态鉴别、临床疾病的诊断、治疗及预防的实践训练，具备动物保健、临床诊疗、动物检疫与动物性食品卫生检验等相关教学科研工作的能力。毕业生应获得以下几方面的知识和能力：

　　The students in Major Veterinary Medicine mainly study the basic theory and basic knowledge of fundamental veterinary medicine , preventive veterinary medicine and clinical veterinary medicine, accept the practice ability training in cognition of animal body structure and function, identification of pathological and physiological states, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of clinical diseases, possess the capabilities in animal health, clinical diagnosis and treatment, animal quarantine and animal food sanitary inspection and other related teaching and research work. Graduates should acquire the following knowledge and skills:

　　（1）具备扎实的数理化、现代生命科学和动物医学的基本理论，熟悉国家畜禽养殖现状，了解动物医学的科学前沿和发展趋势；

　　The students should have the solid basic theories of mathematics, physics and chemistry, modern life science and veterinary medicine, be familiar with the national livestock breeding situation, understand the scientific frontier and development trends of veterinary medicine;

　　（2）掌握动物机体正常的解剖和组织结构及生理、生化功能，掌握动物疾病的致病因素、疾病发生发展规律、疾病诊断、治疗及预防的基本知识；

　　The students should master the normal anatomy and structure, physiological and biochemical functions of animals, basic knowledge of pathogenic factors, animal disease occurrence and development regularities, diagnosis, treatment and prevention;

　　（3）掌握致病因素分析与检测、药物及常规器械的正确使用，具备临床诊疗、动物检疫、畜禽产品安全生产与评价的基本技能；

　　The students should master the analysis and detection of pathogenic factors, correct uses of drugs and conventional instruments, possess the basic skills in clinical diagnosis and treatment, animal quarantine, safety production and evaluation of animal products;

　　（4）熟悉国内外动物福利、动物防疫、产品安全、环境保护、动物进出口检疫等有关方针、政策和法规，并具备农业可持续发展的意识和基本知识；

　　The students should be familiar with domestic and international animal welfare, animal epidemic prevention, product safety, environmental protection, and relevant guidelines, policies and regulations in animal import and export quarantine, and have the awareness and basic knowledge of sustainable development of agriculture;

　　（5）掌握中外科技文献检索及资料查询的基本方法，具有一定的科学研究和实际工作能力；

　　The students should master the basic method for Chinese and foreign science and technology literature retrieval and data query, possess certain skills in scientific research and practical work;

　　（6）具备良好的思想道德素质和较高的人文素养，具有较强的调查研究与决策、组织与管理、口头与文字表达能力。
